Lioncourt Homes helps complete new cricket pavilion in Martley

The housebuilder, which is building 83 new homes off Berrows Green Road in Martley, donated a large amount of material to help complete the pavilion, due to open to players and their families at the end of the month.

Rachael Bibby, Senior Land and Planning Manager at Lioncourt Homes, said: “Group sports such as cricket play a vital role in helping children, and adults, to develop social skills, teamwork, problem solving abilities and overall confidence, as well as keeping fit and finding a new passion. My own daughter plays Under 8s cricket at Martley Cricket Club, so we’re delighted to be able to support the Club by donating materials to help them build their first pavilion.

“I’m sure that future families moving into our new housing development in Martley will get much joy out of this pavilion, providing the perfect environment to meet their neighbours and make new friends. Supporting the community is at the heart of Lioncourt Homes and we’re extremely proud to have been able to work with Martley Cricket Club on this very exciting project. I personally am now counting down the weeks to the pavilion’s official opening.”

The second oldest cricket club in Worcester, Martley Cricket Club has been serving Martley and the surrounding villages for 165 years. It currently has one of the fastest growing junior sections in the country.

Stuart Watt, Chairman of Martley Cricket Club said: “This project has been five years in the making, following a conversation with players and their families about what we could do as a Club to improve our offer to local people. The answer was a pavilion. This project has taken a lot of hard work and dedication from members of the Club and volunteers, and it wouldn’t have been possible without kind donations from individuals and businesses from across our community.

“The materials generously donated by Lioncourt Homes have allowed us to complete the plastering and internal fit out of the pavilion with little expense to the Club, which, when we have had to raise over £250,000 to fund this project, really does make all the difference.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming many new Lioncourt homeowners to Martley Cricket Club in the coming years.”

Lioncourt Homes’ Martley Fields development will deliver a range of two, three, four and five bedroom, sustainable homes, aimed at people on all stages of the property ladder. The initial groundworks are now complete, and the first homes are due to be released for sale this autumn.
